BS EN 61587-2 This part of lEC 61587 specifies seismic tests for cabinets and racks accommodated withIEC 60917 and 60297 series. It applies, in whole or in part, only to the mechanical structuresof cabinets and racks for electronic equipment according to the above cited series ofstandards，while it does not apply to the electronic equipment or systems deemed to beinstalled within these mechanical structures.This standard does not apply either to a cabinetor a rack having an anti-seismic isolation structure, either external or internal.
This standard aims to provide test conditions and criteria that constitute a reference toevaluate the ability of the mechanical structure of the cabinets or racks to acceptablywithstand specified seismic intensities. For this purpose, this standard specifies test specimenconditions,’such as dimensions (i.e. height，width and depth) of the cabinet and the rack,load distribution, structural test condition and the RRs (required response spectra) of single-axis or tri-axis acceleration as the seismic test wave condition. The single-axis or tri-axisacceleration is selectable.

For the purposes of this document,the terms and definitions given in lEC 60068-2-6,IEC60068-3-3,IEC 60068-2-47 and lEC 60068-2-57 apply.
The cabinets or racks under the test shall be loaded in a distributed manner throughout theheight of the cabinets or racks with dummy plug-in units similar to a practical subrackapplication.
The cabinets or racks to be tested shall be loaded as shown in Figure 1 and Table 1.This isthe condition to be taken as reference.
Cabinets or racks equipped with front/rear doors,and/or side panels may gain structuralcontribution from their installation. The test report shall state whether the tested cabinets orracks were tested with or without doors and panels.Cabinets or racks to be deployed in thefield by the user without doors and/or side panels will require cabinets or racks to be testedwithout doors and/or side panels.BS EN 61587-2 pdf download.
