BS EN 16003 Calcium magnesium carbonate product reacts as an alkali when dissolved in water. With carbon dioxide andwater it reacts to form calcium hydrogen carbonate and magnesium hydrogen carbonate.
This European Standard specifies the minimum purity requirements for calcium magnesium carbonate usedfor the treatment of water intended for human consumption. Limits are given for impurities commonly presentin the product. Depending on the raw material and the manufacturing process other impurities may be presentand, if so, this shall be notified to the user and when necessary to the relevant authorities.
NOTE Users of this product should check the national regulations in order to clarify whether it is of appropriate purityfor treatment of water intended for human consumption, taking into account raw water quality, required dosage, contentsof other impurities and additives used in the product not stated in this product standard.
Limits have been given for impurities and toxic substances where these are likely to be present in significantquantities from the current production process and raw materials. lf a change in the production process or rawmaterials leads to significant quantities of other impurities or by-products being present, this shall be notifiedto the user.Observe the general recommendations of lSO 3165 and take account of lSO 6206.

Calcium magnesium carbonate can be delivered in bags, containers and as a bulk material.
In order that the purity of the products is not affected, the means of delivery shall not have been usedpreviously for any different product or it shall have been specially cleaned and prepared before use.
