BS F 157 This British Standard specifies requirements for silicone rubbermaterial with excellent ozone resistance properties intended for theproduction of items such as sheet, mouldings and certain extrusions foruse where high tear strength is of prime importance over a temperaturerange of -60C to 150 C1).
For applications in contact with air, the material may be suitable for useup to 250°C. However, considerable reduction in tear strength canoccur when these materials are exposed above 150 C for other thanshort periods of time.
NOTE 1 Materials and products manufactured from this material areunswitable for use in contact with petroleum based fuels, light mineral oilsand greases made from them and phosphate esters.
NOTE 2 Where prolonged contact with heavy mineral or di-ester basedliqwids are reqwired, use should be made of material conforming to therequirements of BS F153.
